About
Hey folks! I’m Drake Highlander and I’ve been in teaching and training roles since 1988 when I took my first job out of college as a high school band director. In 1997, one of my postgraduate courses at Kennesaw State University explored the future of K-12 education, which sparked my interest in eLearning.
By 2001 I was contracting for The Home Depot, designing eLearning courses to replace their instructor-led cashier training program. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to contract for a variety of organizations in a wide range of industries, learning best practices for high quality, rapid training development from friends and mentors along the way.
I’m now with Fresenius Medical Care as a Sr. Manager of Instructional Design.
While I’ve called many places my home—Atlanta, Tucson, Charlotte (NC), Troy (MI), and Naples (FL),—I’m now settled in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
I’m mostly even keel, except when it comes to Halloween, which gets way out of control in our front yard. And I’m an aspiring children’s fiction writer. I self-published a short space adventure, What Not to Do When You Find a Spaceship, in 2008.
